    Types of Asbestos

    There are six recognized types of asbestos, categorized into two groups:

    • Serpentine Asbestos (Curly Fibers)
    • Amphibole Asbestos (Straight, Needle-Like Fibers)
    • Amosite ("Brown Asbestos") – Used in cement sheets and insulation.
    • Crocidolite ("Blue Asbestos") – Found in pipe insulation and spray coatings.
    • Tremolite, Actinolite, and Anthophyllite – Rarely used but found as contaminants in talc and vermiculite.

    Where is Asbestos Found?

    Asbestos was widely used in commercial and industrial products until its dangers were discovered. Common materials that may contain asbestos include:
